Il trouve le ma\u00eetre des lieux en train de peindre avec acharnement le portrait de son \u00e9pouse ; celle-ci s&rsquo;\u00e9tiole dans cette atmosph\u00e8re lugubre, transmettant le peu de vie qui lui reste au portrait. Un jour, elle s&rsquo;effondre. On l&rsquo;enterre dans la crypte du parc. Mais Roderick est persuad\u00e9 qu&rsquo;elle n&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;endormie. Elle sortira seule de la tombe par une nuit d&rsquo;orage, tandis que la foudre tombe sur la maison Usher.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><em>La Chute de la maison Usher<\/em> a \u00e9t\u00e9 restaur\u00e9 en 1997 par la Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que Royale de Belgique et la Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que fran\u00e7aise, en collaboration avec la Cineteca del Comune di Bologna, le Nederlands Filmmuseum et l&rsquo;Archivo Nacional de la Imagen \u2013 Sodre (Montevideo). La ma\u00eetrise absolue du montage, du rythme o\u00f9 le ralenti, les surimpressions, les travellings, la cam\u00e9ra mobile jouent leur r\u00f4le et jamais gratuitement\u00a0: il n&rsquo;y a pas une image, un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 technique qui ne soient l\u00e0 pour embellir le film\u00a0; ils sont l\u00e0 pour nous impressionner dans le sens le plus noble comme les images et la cadence d&rsquo;un vers.
