Mais Irena ne veut pas consommer leur union, de peur de se transformer en panth\u00e8re oblig\u00e9e de tuer son amant, conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 une croyance entretenue par son village natal. Lorsque son mari commence \u00e0 s&rsquo;int\u00e9resser \u00e0 l&rsquo;une de ses coll\u00e8gues de travail, Irena se met \u00e0 la traquer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Selon Tourneur, son producteur Val Lewton n&rsquo;est pas satisfait de la p\u00e9riode dans laquelle se d\u00e9roule <em>Ancient Sorceries<\/em>, le livre dont est tir\u00e9 le sc\u00e9nario, d\u00e9clarant\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0si vous voulez faire un film d&rsquo;horreur, le public doit pouvoir s&rsquo;identifier aux personnages pour \u00eatre effray\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb. Lewton participe activement \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9criture du sc\u00e9nario. Pendant le processus d&rsquo;\u00e9criture, Tourneur se souvient \u00eatre pass\u00e9 en voiture devant la maison de Lewton le soir pour trouver une lumi\u00e8re allum\u00e9e o\u00f9 Lewton travaille. Bodeen, le sc\u00e9nariste,  d\u00e9crit l&rsquo;histoire comme un \u00ab\u00a0projet de groupe\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0: selon lui, Lewton a eu l&rsquo;id\u00e9e originale et a \u00e9crit le traitement et le sc\u00e9nario, en collaboration avec Tourneur et Lewton, ainsi qu&rsquo;avec le monteur du film, <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Robson\">Mark Robson<\/a>. Bodeen soutient que \u00ab\u00a0Tourneur est enti\u00e8rement responsable du style de <em>La F\u00e9line<\/em>, mais si vous lisez le sc\u00e9nario, vous verrez que tout ce qui est dans le film est dans le sc\u00e9nario original \u2014\u00a0et c&rsquo;est simplement parce que c&rsquo;est un projet de groupe. D&rsquo;autres d\u00e9cors proviennent de <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Le_Diable_s%27en_m%C3%AAle\">Le Diable s&rsquo;en m\u00eale<\/a><\/em> (<em>The Devil and Miss Jones<\/em>, 1941). Des prises de vue suppl\u00e9mentaires ont lieu au Royal Palms Hotel dans le centre de Los Angeles, o\u00f9 est tourn\u00e9e la s\u00e9quence de la piscine o\u00f9 un personnage croit \u00eatre traqu\u00e9 par une panth\u00e8re. Le lieu est choisi par l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe de production en raison de son atmosph\u00e8re claustrophobe.
